ok, it doesn’t seem like that big of a deal now & everyone makes fun of m. night shyamalan but let me paint you a picture of my 12 year old self who was obsessed with the sixth sense going to see this with my mom on opening night and we were so fucking excited and ready for our minds to be FUCKING BLOWN and there was such fantastic build up (actually this movie is probably one of the reasons i LOVE slow burn movies so much) and we were like WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THESE ALIENS AND WHAT IS GOING ON and it was so GOOD AND EMOTIONAL with all the family’s aftermath from the loss of the mother and there were so many fucking great parallels and the tension was building and building and building AND THEN JOAQUIN IS WATCHING THE NEWS and this lady is like saying this may disturb us and everyone was like THIS IS FUCKING IT THIS IS HAPPENING and THEN THE FUCKING ALIEN WALKED ACROSS THE SCREEN FOR A SPLIT SECOND and the ENTIRE THEATRE SCREAMED AS IF THEY HAD JUST BEEN STABBED OR SOMETHING IT WAS SO FUCKING REAL AND AWESOME and of course you’re in the theatre so it can’t be rewound or paused but it just kept haunting you and it was fucking amazing storytelling and being in the moment and being scared… this is why i will ALWAYS BE a Shyamalan fan, for that and of course the moment at the end of the sixth sense which, if for some reason you haven’t seen and never heard of the conclusion of the film, i won’t spoil it… but that is one of my all time favorite movies and not just for the ending, that entire movie is incredible and i love Signs as well. i like some of his other work but The Sixth Sense and Signs are amazing and genius and wonderful and that is why i go see stuff like Devil b/c i remember these intense crazy moments that made me love movies even fucking MORE than i already did as a kid and i have hope that one day he’ll create something else that blows my mind with its awesomeness.
THIS HAS BEEN AN OUTBURST BY CAPRIAMOVIES. oh wait. I’m not done. CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE ACTING IN SIGNS? LIKE ARE YOU SERIOUS WITH THESE FLAWLESS PERFORMANCES??!?! no one hated mel gibson back then and his performance floored me. yeah he’s a dick, however I can’t deny his talent as an actor. and then you have joaquin who i didn’t even know of at the time and thought was the hottest guy ever and LOVED his performance. not only was he great in dramatic moments but he was a lot of the comic relief which he did so well. then you have rory culkin and abigail breslin who are performing as if they’ve been doing it for 30 years? LIKE HOW ARE YOU THAT GOOD? HELP? ok I need to relax. i haven’t watched this movie in forever and i am definitely going to very soon.. double feature of Signs and Sixth Sense? UGH. YES. I AM FUCKING HERE FOR THAT. #excited. #BYE.

Edward Scissorhands (1990), dir. Tim Burton
Before he came down here, it never snowed.
Less Edgar Allen Poe, more THIS.
One Crazy Summer
Not necessary to have less Poe to have more silly comedies. John plays such a wide variety of characters in so many different types of movies. He has one of the best and most varied careers of any actor and I love it! I wish more of my faves would choose such different roles.
