allgrownupandreadytosnuggle SAID: I hope I'm not spamming your ask box but I'm totally bored and think you have some really neat, different opinions about movies (except for the Scorsese love because who doesn't love him?) but I've always pictured Michelle Williams as the second coming of Meryl Streep. What all have you seen of hers? What's the difference between a great actress and a good actress? Are you more interested in seeing my girl Naomi Watts portray Maryln? And how do you feel about Billy Wilder?

It’s cool, I’m bored myself & it’s cool you find my opinions worth reading! :)

Michelle as the second coming of Meryl. Ouch. That hurts me physically b/c I find Meryl to be an otherworldy goddess and Michelle to be…eh. As for Michelle’s work, I have seen *checks IMDb* whoa… I’ve seen way more of her movies that I even thought, I’m not going to list them all, but all her major roles I’ve seen and a few others. The best I have seen her was in Brokeback Mountain and even then I was not amazed by her performance. But then again, who can pay attention to her when you’ve got Heath and Jake bringing the house down with those outstanding performances.

In my opinion, a good actress is someone who is capable of playing most roles well enough and has certain moments where they actually do excel but overall does not blow me away. A great actress is someone who’s talent is unstoppable, pulling you in during every scene, someone who is captivating and constantly gives incredible performances and makes choices I’m not expecting, someone who you go to the movies specifically to see, and so much more.

I think Naomi Watts is a better choice for Marilyn but to me she is kind of hit or miss as a performer, like sometimes I’m wowed by her and sometimes I’m not. Plus is that film even happening now? I still stand by my choice of Catherine Zeta Jones to play Marilyn.

Billy Wilder is one of the greats. I mean come on, Sunset Boulevard, The Apartment, Some Like It Hot… They don’t make ‘em like that anymore.
