recollective SAID: I could not agree more about Michelle Williams as Marilyn. I am verrrrry reluctant to see the film because the previews have not impressed me at all. I don't really understand all of the praise she's getting. What I've seen looks like nothing more than a terrible impersonation. I guess I shouldn't judge until I see the full film, though!
It’s honestly not even a terrible impersonation. Michelle Williams is a good actress. She is not great, though, and that is what you need for this kind of role. Regardless, she just was not the right person to play Marilyn. I completely do not buy it. It doesn’t feel like a story about Marilyn Monroe, it feels like a story about someone kind of like her who imitates her look. She just does not sell it.
