Months ago, when I first saw the trailer for The Tree of Life, I wasn’t too thrilled by it, but a lot of my friends were freaking out about how great they were sure it was going to be, so I kept it in the back of my mind. Now, I’m quite interested in the film based on the dozens of critics that have said how much this “nostalgic and introspective” film made them think about their own lives. I love films like that. Stories about life and how amazing, short, long, and terrible it is, all at the same time… how the universe seems endless and yet everything ends and is ending all the time. I am the most nostalgic person you will ever meet. At least, I was - I’ve been trying lately to be less like that, but movies like this still get me in a big, bad way. It’s only playing at one theatre in Manhattan right now, and I don’t think I’ll have the time to go this week, but I can’t wait to see this film.
