I agree with you on True Grit, when I heard "God's Gonna Cut You Down" I was sold. But I'm disappointed that it's the only movie I'm somewhat excited to see in theaters. I remember really wanting to see the Social Network after I saw the trailer, but I wasn't, like you said "foaming at the mouth" to go see it. I've yet to watch it. Even with the latest Harry Potter movie I only think "eh, I'll see it eventually."
Right? It’s funny how something like that in a trailer can totally sell you on it. I mean, if the Coen Brothers + Jeff Bridges wasn’t enough. :)
You should watch The Social Network, seriously, it’s worth it. I wouldn’t lie to ya. I was completely, 100% not into it after seeing the trailer and the hype and everything, I just didn’t care. Finally decided to just turn it on and I loved it. I will probably watch it again.
I am not the Harry Potter fan I used to be. I actually put on a play of Sorcerer’s Stone in 4th grade during which I of course starred as Harry. I haven’t seen Deathly Hallows 1 yet, but I am really really excited to. I decided to re-watch all the other movies first which is proving to be a looong process considering all the other movies I need to watch. Why aren’t there more hours in the day?
Today when I came home, I turned on The Social Network, finally!!
Cause out of all the messages I got last night, that was the movie people freaked out at me the most over having not seen. SEE, I actually listened to you guys for once!! :)
WELL GUESS WHAT I THOUGHT IT ROCKED. YEP.
I’m relieved. Frankly. I hate when everyone loves a movie and I hate it and I’m just like “*eyeroll* No, I do not want to go with you to the re-release of Avatar. VOM.” But I really enjoyed it.
The best part is an ending. Damn that was perfect. I love when movies are good and all but then like like last minute just takes it away.
I could say a lot about things I loved about it and things I didn’t but I don’t feel like doing a whole review and all that. But I will say that it made me wonder how much longer Facebook will last. And I don’t mean REALLY last, I just mean like, how much longer will everyone be on it all the time and so on. I deleted mine around May, and don’t really ever miss it. It’s like how everyone stopped using Myspace and moved over to Facebook like what… 2 years ago now? 3? but it still generates a shit ton of money. I wonder what everyone will move on to from Facebook, and when that will happen.
I agree with you about this years oscars. I'm usually so "jazzed" about everything, and see movies that were buzzed, but ended up failing critical, but now...I kind of don't care. I think it might be because I don't really have a film I'm DYING to see this year or that one of the fun things about the oscar seasons is waiting for movies to come out, that didn't show up at festivals, and see if they have a chance, but that was kind of ruined because if that was buzzed basically appeared at TIFF this year. =/
Yeah, I know what you mean. I don’t think anything will top 2004, 2006, and 2007 for me as far as recent Oscar seasons. There were so many movies during those years that just totally captivated me in many different ways and that hasn’t been as true lately. I will still see the nominated films, it’s just not going to be as fun as when I’ve waited for something to come out for months. I don’t want to be a party pooper though, I know plenty of people who were thrilled with The Social Network and can’t wait for Black Swan and all the other stuff that is supposed to be so amazing. Best case scenario, I’ll love them all, but right now I am so in Toy Story 3’s corner, it’s not even funny. I haven’t been that moved by a film in awhile and it deserves more than just “Best Animated Feature” which it will undoubtedly win.
I am really excited to see James L. Brooks’ latest, How Do You Know, even though I’m not that crazy about the trailer, it’s James L. Brooks with a great cast including my boyfriend, Jack Nicholson. I did a post about that awhile ago if anyone wants to read it, look in the tags. I also am into the Coen Brothers’ True Grit, but that’s mostly because they used one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs in the trailer. It does look badass though. I’m probably forgetting others I’m slightly into, but yeah there isn’t anything I’m like foaming at the mouth to see, when usually I’m dying with excitement.
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS FROM A MOVIE EVER. I saw Juno in theatres like 4 times, I just kept bringing people to watch it because I was so in love with it. That really needs a re-watch. I remember the first time I saw it, it was like before all the hype and everything and I thought it was really good, but then I took my mom and like during this scene I just lost my fucking mind and started crying hysterically because the song is so moving and Juno’s face and omg I cry every single time. And then there’s that Diablo Cody/Jason Reitman commentary I have been meaning to listen to for the past two years so maybe this requires two rewatches.
List of movies I have sitting here waiting for me to watch. I am lame and choose to list them here instead of going and starting one. PS, how awesome was Dexter tonight? I can't deal with it.
The Rebound. Fuck yeah Catherine Zeta-Jones, I love you girlfriend. You go on with your wedding at the Plaza to an older amazingly talented Hollywood royalty rich hot famous man, you. Oh how I love Michael Douglas. IDK why you are making movies like this now instead of more things like Chicago but you are probably too busy being gorgeous and wearing Chanel in Central Park to dance and sing. I get it.
The Social Network. Well this has been sitting here for like a month and I still don’t care enough about it to actually press play but I am still intrigued and so on. Fincher knows what the fuck he is doing and so does Sorkin & Jesse Einsenberg so I am into it even though it’s about Facebook and features Justin Timberlake… oh, life’s unpleasantries.
Dead Girl I meant to watch this around Halloween since I heard it is a super fucked up horror movie, and plus Candice Accola is in it and she fucking rocks (Caroline on The Vampire Diaries WHICH THANK YOU SWEET GORGEOUS JESUS COMES BACK THIS WEEK PRAISE THE LAWD!)
Copycat OMG, A 90’S SERIAL KILLER THRILLER THAT I HAVE NOT SEEN? HOW CAN THIS BE???? I mean, it even stars HBIC/general bringer of the awesome, Sigourney Weaver. Oh how I love her. Heartbreakers was on the other night and I watched it twice, bringing my total times watching it to about 235.
Frost/Nixon I never watched this. A few weeks ago I made a really good Nixon joke at a party OUT OF NOWHERE and for some reason I then started reading about him. I only knew the basics before and now I am more intrigued than before. The funny thing is, I was supposed to go to the New York premiere of this movie but skipped it for reasons I don’t remember. I’m stupid. Anyway let’s move on.
Let The Right One In I keep really wanting to watch this and then forgetting about it. This is one of those movies everyone I know who is cool likes and so I know I will like it and I am just waiting to be in the right mood to watch it…or something.
Legion I have this because my mom wanted to watch it. Like out of all the good movies in the world this is what she chooses. Grandma crawling on the walls at the diner being all possessed and shit. Or whatever the fuck is going on in this. I don’t know. All I know is that for some reason Dennis Quaid is in it and any movie featuring Dennis Quaid gets the ‘I will watch this’ stamp from moi.
Sex & The City 2 Yeah I need to watch this again. I am obsessed with the whole SATC franchise more than I can say. DEALWITHIT.GIF. And it’s not even the fashion, I don’t know what it is but I think I cry more as a result of the emotion on SATC more than any other series. OMG the episode where Steve and Miranda get back together at Brady’s birthday party and poor Charlotte omg. I didn’t love the 2nd movie as much as everything else, but I STILL LOVED IT and went to see it opening night obviously obviouslllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy cry. I hope they make ten more!!!!!!
Ramona & Beezus I am not into this really except I *LOVED* the Ramona books as a kid and I just want to see what they did with it. Plus, John Corbett is hot, what do you want from me and my high functioning vagina? (I don’t know what I meant by that at all, just ignore me)
The Lost Boys This has been begging me for a re-watch for a looong time now. Love it, classic, etc.
Three Men & A Little Lady THEY ARE MAKING A THIRD ONE. OMG.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice Yeah idk. Some of my friends are in this and that is cool I guess. I like Jay Baruchel. DUH. “HE TOUCHED THIS PEN! HE TOUCHED THIS PEN!” etc. Disney made this and there is a legal agreement floating around the universe somewhere that states my head will fall off if I do not watch every movie they make.
Despicable Me IT’S SO FLUFFY I’M GONNA DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before you leave a comment about this in my ask…I KNOW, I KNOW, I SHOULD WATCH THE SOCIAL NETWORK. I KNOOOOW. Guess what? I also don’t think Black Swan looks very good. Like at all. I think it looks silly. It will be funny if I end up LOVING both The Social Network and Black Swan and then in February I’ll be shaking and crying when they win Oscars. IDK, overall this has been the least exciting Oscar season in YEARS for me. I mean usually I am so obsessed with so many movies coming out and wait with bated breath for them to come out and try as hard as I can to go to the premieres or any pre-screenings and like, I just live for this time of year. Not this time. Bleggehgh.
heyy, i LOVE YOUR BLOG!!! i seriously check it every single day for new stuff.
i love all the john hughes stuff but i'm just wondering where is all THE BREAKFAST CLUB stuff?? you post a lot of 16 candles & pretty in pink but no breakfast club. do you not like that one? just wondering. thanks.
os love the PA 2 review, you are so right about hollywood making ghosts look ridculous. so lame. s
Thanks for your nice comments!
It’s funny you should say that, because The Breakfast Club is probably my favorite Hughes movie, though it’s very hard to choose just one. I remember the night I saw it, when I was 12, like it was yesterday.
This blog is only a few months old and I am beyond obsessed with movies. I have barely scratched the surface, trust me! Just because I haven’t posted about something yet, doesn’t mean I don’t love it. (:
I’m going to see Morning Glory today… we’ll see how that goes. Diane Keaton is basically an idol of mine, and I adore Rachel McAdams, though I’ve been pretty disappointed with her movies as of late (The Time Traveler’s Wife? Are you kidding?). So that’s why I’m going. Also, some of my friends from Boardwalk Empire are in it so it should be fun.
Have you seen this one, too? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OABeWNqZph4&feature=related It's even better than the 'After Today' spoof you posted!
hahahahaha omg. That one is AMAZING, so professional and well done and incredible. But I think I like the one I posted even more, it’s just so silly. And apparently a lot of people do this because someone sent me this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ajkqrs1qMRU&NR=1 which is even more of a complete mess. i still cracked up at it though, especially the kiss at the beginning. I love that I have now seen 3 live action After Today videos LOLOL. Thanks!
p.s. I really need someone who lives in an Agrabah type place to act out “One Jump” from Aladdin.
